Reconnect and restore in the forest

What is forest therapy?

Forest Therapy is a research-based approach for supporting health and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. It is typically a 2- or 3-hour immersive experience in nature where participants are guided through a series of invitations to awaken their senses, slow down, cultivate presence and deepen their relationship with nature. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to “forest bathing,” it is a practice of spending time in forested areas for the purpose of enhancing health, wellness, and happiness.

Forest Therapy Benefits

There is growing research and evidence showing that visits to forest environments have positive impacts on human health. Some of those benefits include:

  • Improved relaxation and restoration

  • Decrease in heart rate, cortisol levels, and blood pressure

  • Improved immune function

  • Improved mental health and cognitive function

  • Feelings of connectedness

The forest therapy experience.

Our walks are a 2- to 3- hour experience of immersion in a forest environment. A walk is not a hike, in fact we rarely go farther than a quarter of a mile. We spend time grounding ourselves and slowing down, then round out the experience with tea and reflection, all working in partnership with the land.
